This cracked me up. Certainly in the law prof world, there are LOTs of secret, and not-so secret, readers of Brian Leiter.
Brian himself explains:
"It's the product of a former Princeton grad student. Apparently at Princeton, they all read the PGR, but no one wants to admit it."
I'm left wondering: is the former Princeton grad student now selling philosohpical t-shirts in addition to working as a philosopher, or instead?
Get one yourself, for just $14.49 - $24.49, depending on the style.
The 'secret' popularity may have more to do with his young readers' need to follow current trends in academic social climbing than with an interest in philosophy as such. But then technical philosophy doesn't exactly foster introspection does it?

Sad to say, I believe she (the former Princeton grad student, that is) has left philosophy. I don't think selling philosophy-related T-shirts, though, is the standard line of work for those who don't pursue an academic career!
Seth, lighten up about academic philosophy! It's not so bad.
Cheers,
Brian
